Monday –

  • Review elements of poetry
  • Complete Quizalize Lessons

Hw: Complete Quizalize lessons if you didn’t in class

Tuesday- 

  • Review Plot Diagram
  • Read a short story & fill in a plot diagram graphic organizer
  • Begin Study Island Practice Test to review concepts on exam

Hw: If you were absent or behind, work on your Study Island Practice Test

Wednesday- READING HOMEWORK DUE!

  • Take up reading hw
  • Continue Study Island Practice Test

Hw: If you were absent or behind, work on your Study Island Practice Test

Thursday–

  • Finish Study Island Practice Test
  • Continue Quizalize Lessons
  • Hand back and discuss graded papers

Friday-

  • Discuss reading hw
  • Introduce Passion Projects (just a little insight into it) since we’ll be starting this when we return from the break
  • Give students time to research ideas, read news headlines, etc. to find topics of interest

  • Early finishers will watch “Finding Sayfullah’s Voice” (a boy with cerebral palsy uses technology to communicate with others just like Melody, our main character in Out of my Mind, does

Wednesday- 

  • Pass out Non-Fiction Reading Log #2 (Due 12/6)
  • Read “Into the Storm” (Discuss the point of view, text structure, word choice used, mood, and make inferences)

Hw: Study vocabulary words, read, and answer 1 comprehension question on reading log

Thursday– 

  • Read “Saved from Disaster” (the story of the Pea Island life-saving station crew)
  • Make inferences and provide text evidence from stories “Into the Storm” and “Saved from Disaster”
  • Compare characters from both stories

Hw: Study vocabulary words, read, and answer 1 comprehension question on reading log

Friday-

  • Watch “Rescue Men” Story of Pea Island Life Savers
  • Finish partner work (character comparison and inferencing)
