Monday –

  • Hand out new Non-Fiction/Text Structure Vocabulary
    Click HERE to practice vocabulary with flashcards and games (test on Friday, December 7)
  • Begin “The Flaming Sky” (The Hindenburg Disaster) by watching “Behind the Scenes”
  • Complete “Before Reading” activity

HW: Study vocabulary and finish Vocabulary.com assignment (DUE WEDNESDAY for a grade)

Tuesday –

  • “The Flaming Sky” & “A Survivor’s Story”
  • “Read, Think, & Explain”  Non-Fiction Story Elements

Wednesday-

  • Finish “Read, Think, & Explain” **Students will be writing a summary of the main events.

Thursday-

We have almost 100% of our parents on Class Dojo now. Way to go!  Thank you. Be sure and download the app so you can see your child’s daily reports and messages. Feel free to use this to send a personal message to me if you have any questions or concerns. If you’re not signed up, ask your child for the form with his/her personal code so you can get signed up. This is how I will be communicating frequently with parents.

**We will be starting a wonderful novel, Out of My Mind this week. This is a book about an eleven-year-old girl with cerebral palsy who cannot speak. Throughout the book, she overcomes and amazes her readers with her determination and strength. Melody is certainly an unforgettable character.

  • Introduce Sharon Draper (author of our novel)
  • Show Out of My Mind Trailer
  • Begin Cerebral Palsy Webquest
